Liverpool midfielder Lallana bumps into Barcelona legend Xavi in Doha

Adam Lallana is on the road to recovery - and the Liverpool midfielder has been getting tips from one of the world's greatest players while doing so.

Lallana is in Qatar at the Aspire Clinic in his attempts to return to action from a thigh injury which has kept him out all season so far.

While there he bumped into former Barcelona midfielder Xavi, with the England international left starstruck by the 2014 World Cup winner.

Lallana shared a series of pictures of him with Xavi on Instagram, and wrote: 'Great week stepping up the rehab even further - getting stronger each and every day.

'Added bonus of meeting and chatting to one of my idols as well - Xavi. So down to earth despite being one of the greatest players of his generation.'

Lallana has been sent to the clinic by Liverpool after undergoing therapy at Melwood, as the Reds try and get him back fit as soon as possible.

He was injured in a pre-season friendly in August and has not played since, with the Reds now also without Sadio Mane, who has a hamstring injury.

Xavi, now 37, plays his football in the middle east after joining Qatari side Al-Sadd after leaving Barcelona.

He has recently said he would be interested in managing the Qatar national side, with the country set to host the 2022 World Cup.
