To haul my family out of poverty, I made valiant efforts to secure a scholarship to study outside the country.

Then something happened.

While in the company of my reading partner who himself wore glasses too, we were accosted by a course mate who teased us about our constant use of glasses.

Of course I should. But owing to being constantly teased about my sight, I wasn't going to allow myself to be vulnerable to Linus, my course mate who always choose to tease me about my poor eyesight.
