Cologne take the lead in dramatic fashion, and it's a goal Arsenal could have avoided. It's a long ball over the top, Ospina rushes out but doesn't get the best clearance... Bittencourt touches it to Cordoba, who is 40-45 yards out with Ospina rushing back, and he manages to lift it over him and into the corner of the net!

Arsenal's first real opportunity falls to Walcott, who was, believe it or not, inches offside from Iwobi's dink through. He attempts to shoot, 12 yards out, but Heintz closes him down and he drags it wide.

39' CHANCE! Giroud's header wide out

First sign of the Alexis Sanchez we know and love. He has it on the left, touches inside and crosses for Giroud... he gets up well, but glances his header harmlessly wide.

49' GOAL! Arsenal 1-1 Köln (Kolasinac)

All square, and what a strike from the substitute! Walcott is free down the left, but his cross is deflected and the ball loops into the air...

No problem for Kolasinac though, who rifles a left-footed volley past Horn in the Cologne net. It wasn't quite in the corner, but it was far too powerful for the highly-rated German keeper.
